With our greatest sorrow we inform you about the death of Vazken Kahkejian, which happened on Monday, October 17, at the age of 53.

The funeral services were held the next day in the “St Boghos” Church of Anjar.

The LOKH "Ahtamar" Chapter of Anjar, participated in a fair organized by the LOKH central committee of Lebanon, which was held on Saturday, October 22nd, in the central square of Bourj Hamoud.

 Homemade food and handmade accessories were successfully sold during the fair and were very much admired by the visitors.

On Friday, October 21st, the LOKH "Aghtamar" Chapter organized a lecture in the “Filhannessian” Center, where Miss Sona Sislian was invited to talk about ways to recognize and modify the educational situation of our children.

 The parents present were eager to know about the right ways to change, the learning habits of their children, for the better…

For 2 consecutive Sundays, a group of volunteers from the village have participated in an operation dedicated to clean the “Ghozayel” river, which originates and passes from Anjar.

The event was organized by the “Big Blue” Organization and “U.S. Aid” and sponsored by the “Mediterranean Bank”, whereas the practical part of the event was achieved by the Anjar Municipality.

150 volunteers, from Anjar, Bar Elias, Kefer Zabed, , the Red Cross and the Lebanese Army, cleaned the river using Kayakas and later received certificates for their participation. While the Anjar municipality was praised highly for the great part it played in the success of the event.

The committee of the "100th anniversary of the Mousa Daghian heroic battle and the 75th anniversary of establishment of Anjar", participated in the festival held in Bourj Hamoud on Sunday, October 16.

 Home made products and books were sold by the committee and were highly accepted by the attendants. The crowd in front of the “Mousa Ler” kiosk was at its peak, when the traditional Daul Zurna visited the Festival and created a cheerful atmosphere 

On Wednesday, October 19th , the elder compatriots of the village were invited to attend the morning Mass in the “St. Boghos” church and later, to a breakfast gathering in the “K. Gulbenkian” Hall.

The event was organized by the LOKH “Aghtamar” Chapter and the welcoming words were said by the chairman of the chapter Mrs. Santoukhd Hergelian, who thanked the sponsors and Mrs. Hamesdouhi Janbazian, who offered a Jar of pure honey to the attendants.

The 2011 Issue of “Haigazian Armenological Review” includes an article of 30 pages “The Experience of Mousa Dagh Armenian Immigrants in the United States During The 1910s-1940s” written by Vahram Shemmessian.

The article talks about the circumstances in which Mousa Daghians migrated from Mousa Dagh, particularly the ones who moved to the United States and their situation there.

Archbishop Varoujan Hergelian published 3 books «Ատանայի Վկաները եւ Սուրբ Ստեփանոս Վկայարանը», «Կիպրոսի Թեմի Յովուական Կարգը Եւ Թեմական Կազմաւորումը» and «Թղթակցութիւն Սահակ Բ. Կաթողիկոսի Եւ Պետրոս Արք. Սարաճեանի».

The books which were published in Cyprus, embrace religious and nationalistic issues.

On Sunday, September 11th, Levon Tashjian participated in the “Mountain Marathon” in Yanta, representing HMEM Anjar and achieved the 1st position. Congratulations…

During the last few weeks, the members of the women’s association of the Armenian Evangelical Church, visited the houses of the village, to gather donations of groceries and money for the “KAHL” organization, whose members were present at the Evangelical Church of Anjar on Sunday, October 9, to celebrate the “Harvest Day”, along with a large number of believers.

The message of the day was conveyed by Rev. Sebouh Terzian, who talked about sharing the blessings granted to us with the less fortunate and the ones in need.

Later the members of the “KAHL” organization were invited to a lunch in the “Chanits” Hall, prepared by the women’s association of the Armenian Evangelical Church of Anjar.

On Sunday, October 2, the Hamazkayine “B. Sevag” Chapter organized a lecture in the “S. Zeitlian” Center, benefiting from the visit of Karekin Choukasezian to Lebanon.

 Karekin Choukasezian presented 2 CD s containing encyclopedias about the life and work of Gomidas Vartabed and the Armenian genocide. The CD-s, which have been highly acknowledged by the Armenian community worldwide and were appreciated by medals, are now available for the public.

The municipality of Anjar is undertaking the reconstruction of the village roads as the streets are being paved with asphalt and the construction is estimated to finish in 10 days.
