News The parents’ committee of the “Harach” “K. Gulbenkian” School organized a gathering over breakfast in the Restaurant “Nabba Anjar”, on Friday, November 25th. The opening words of the gathering were said by Ashkhen Kazanjain, who welcomed the attendants and said that the profit of the gathering will be used to buy equipment for the school. The gathering was conducted by Naira Batouzian, who created a joyful atmosphere accompanied by traditional Armenian music.
On Wednesday, November 23, the kindergarten students of the 3 schools of the village were invited to gather in the Lebanese Army post near the HMEM Club In Anjar, to celebrate the Lebanese Independence Day. The Mayor of Anjar, Garo Pamboukian, and the army representative, welcomed the children and explained the significance of the Lebanese Independence Day, before letting the students, in their turn, congratulate them the Independence Day with songs, poems and symbolic gifts. Later the mayor and the army representative, along with the children and kindergarten conductors cut the cake and distributed it to the students. The children returned to their homes in a happy mood with treats from the Lebanese Army and gifts from the Anjar municipality.
For two consecutive days the Hamazkayine” B. Sevag” Chapter’s “Gakavig” Dance group performed on the stage of the “K. Gulbenkian” Hall, having as conductor Miss Kayane Madzunian. On Saturday, November 19, the attendants were the students of the schools and on Sunday the parents and elder compatriots of the village attended, where the opening words were said by the chairman of the executive committee of the chapter, Hagop Aintablian, who welcomed the attendants and thanked the parents for their dedication and support. He also thanked the dance group committee whose members worked devotedly and made the happening of the event possible. Member of the Hamazkayine Central Committee, Dr. Sebouh Aintablian, talked about the great role of the Hamazkayine in keeping the Armenian culture alive, he continued saying that the Hamazkayine Central Committee has and always will support the activities of its chapters. Mayor of Anjar, Garo Pamboukian, said that Anjarians are proud of the “Gakavig” dance group, whose members will surely achieve greater performances in the future. The 3 classes of the dance group performed amazingly and astonished the audience, whereas the conductor of the dance group, Miss Kayane Madzounian, deserved the applauds of the attendants for her achievement.
Today, November 21st, 2011, at the highway near the entrance of the village, which was decorated with Lebanese flags and pictures of the president, by the municipality of Anjar, Mayor of Anjar, Garo Pamboukian, ARF Garmir Ler Committee Chairman, Apraham Malkejian and Anjarian compatriots gathered to salute the president of the Republic of Lebanon, Micheal Suleyman, who was going for a visit to Rashaya, for the occasion of the Lebanese independence day. At the arrival of the president, the Mayor of Anjar offered him a symbolic gift and congratulated the independence day of Lebanon, and after hailing to the public the president continued his way to Rashaya.
With our deepest sorrow we inform you about the death of Hagop Balabanian (Born in Jabal Mousa, 1930), which happened on Thursday, November 17th. The funeral services took place on Friday at 1:00pm, in the “St. Boghos” Church of Anjar. Our condolences to the family and relatives of the deceased…
The Committee of “100th anniversary of the Mousa Daghian heroic battle and the 75 anniversary of the establishment of Anjar” participated in a National Fair representing Mousa Ler. The fair, which was organized by the ARF LEM “Hayasdan” Chapter, occurred on Saturday October 29th, in the “Manougian” hall of “S. E. Manougian” college, and held the slogan “Մենք Ենք Մեր Մշակոյթը”…
On Monday, November 7th, George and Dzovag Kendirjian were blessed with their first child, a baby girl, Areni. The same day Aso and Aline Stamboulian were also blessed with their first child, a baby boy, Aren. We congratulate the parents and the grandparents of the babies…
On Thursday October 20th, 70 journalists from 17 Arab countries visited Anjar to participate in a conference held in the “K. Gulbenkian” hall, where the significance of the touristic sites in Anjar and ways to benefit from those sites internationally, was discussed. After placing flowers near the Mousa Daghian Martyrs’ monument, the attendants were welcomed by Sahag Andekian, on behalf of the Municipality of Anjar, and after having breakfast, the attendants gathered in the “K. Gulbenkian” hall for the conference. Mayor of Anjar, Garo Pamboukian, welcomed the guests and thanked them for choosing our village as a center for their conference, and introduced Anjar and its touristic sites with a power point presentation. Later symbolic gifts were given to the HMEM Anjar Branch, LOKH "Aghtamar" Chapter and Anjar Municipality for the enormous parts they played in the development of the village.
