  • An Afternoon Banquet For Women

    On Wednesday 24th of August, the women of the village gathered over dinner in “Al Jazire” Restaurant , in an event organized by the LOKH "Aghtamar" Chapter.

      

    Hamesd Jambazian conducted the feast and a joyous atmosphere was created, as the attendants danced on the tunes of the festive music and ate the delicious meal.


  • Peleshian’s Art In Directing Movies

    The Hamazkayine “B. Sevag” Chapter organized a lecture on Friday, August 19, where Hagop Der Ghougasian talked about A. Peleshian and his approach to the art of directing movies.

                                               


  • “Shoushanian” Summer School

    “Shoushanian” Summer school opened its doors to the children of the village with its volunteer teachers and administration, from 1st of August to the 19.

                              

     

                                     

     A colorful program was prepared to entertain the children where they went to trips, played games, listened to bible stories and on Friday, August 19, concluded the program with a performance on the stage, in the “K. Gulbenkian” Hall.


  • A Summer Gathering For The Elderly

    The elder people of the village were invited to Restaurant “Green Garden”, during a gathering organized by the LOKH “Aghtamar” Chapter, and sponsored by different individuals.

     

                                       

     

    The attendants had a great time while eating the delicious food, listening the nice music and playing amusing games…


  • Eat Healthy Live Healthy

    On Thursday, August 18, Nutritionist, Sanan Tovmassian, gave a lecture in the “Philhanessian” center during an event organized by the LOKH “Aghtamar” Chapter.

     

    The lecturer talked about the ways to preserve a healthy body and foods to eat to live a healthy life, she continued talking about the foods to avoid while on a diet and gave tips about the best diets to follow for people who suffer from chronic illnesses.


  • St. “Asdvadzadzin”

    “St. Mary’s” day was celebrated in the “St. Boghos” Church of Anjar on Sunday, August 14, where the grapes were blessed by Rev. Father Ashod Karakashian and Rev. father Arsen Keshishian and later handed to the people.

                                                 

                                  


  • Celebrating “St Mary’s” Day

    On Saturday, 13th of August, on the occasion of the “St. Mary’s” day, the youth and the women’s association of the Catholic community, organized a kermes in the yard of the church, where food and beverages were sold, games for children were set and the traditional “Herisa” was prepared.

                                

                                          

                                 

    On Sunday, 14th of August, after the Sunday mass, Archbishop Mikayel Mouradian and father Mesrob Topalian Blessed the “Herisa” and the grapes, to be later distributed to the believers.

     


  • Obituary

    On Friday August 12, Shake Handian passed away at the age of 67.

    The funeral service took place on Saturday, 13th of August in the “St. Boghos” Church of Anjar.

  • Newly Painted Walls Of The “St. Boghos” Church

    The walls of the “St Boghos” Church have been painted to a brilliant white color, thanks to the donations of a generous sponsor, who wishes his name to be anonymous.

                    


  • Wine Anointment Of 2 Books

    The wine anointment of 2 books, “Lazour” and “Jamanagen Antin”, from the author Salpi Kourkjian Tashjian, took place on Friday, August 5th, at 8:30pm in the “S. Zeitlian” Center.

                                

    The opening words were said by Hagop Aintablian, on behalf of the organizing committee, the Hamazkayine “B. Sevag” Chapter, who welcomed the attendants and represented the biography of the author.                                                      

    The Book “Jamanagen Antin” was represented by Hampig Bilalian who said that the chapters of the book, which were frequently printed in newspapers like “Pakin” and

    “Aztag”, reflect the humble spirit of the author who has expressed her feelings and emotions without any impediments, he continued saying that the book is a consolation to the readers in an age where there is indifference towards literature and the Armenian language.

                                 

    After the children’s book “Lazour” was represented by Hovhannes Taslakian, Boghos Senabian talked about the literary importance of the book and highly evaluated the work of the Author reminding that the significance of Salpi Tashjian lies in her persistence to continue her work, wishing her further success and greater achievements.

                                   

    The books were blessed by the religious fathers and after the wine was poured over them were handed to the Author.

                                               

    At the end of the event Salpi Tashjian thanked the organizers and the attendants and said that their presence provides her with courage and hope to continue her work.


  • Obituary

    On Thursday, August 4, Victor Jabrayian Aghazarian passed away at the age of 56. The funeral service was held on Friday, at 3:00pm, in the “St. Boghos” church.


  • The Crew of “Armenia” Sail Ship In Anjar

    On Sunday, August 7, the crew of the “Armenia” sail ship and the Ambassador of Armenia in Lebanon, Ashod Kocharian, visited Anjar and were welcomed, in the front yard of the “St. Boghos “Church, by Minister, Panos Manjain, Mayor of Anjar, Garo Pamboukian, ARF “Garmir Ler” Committee members, religious representatives, representatives of associations and unions and a large number of compatriots.

                                      

    After the Lebanese and the Armenian anthems played by the HMEM Fanfare, the guests were directed to the Mousa Daghian Martyrs’ Monument, accompanied by the traditional "Daul Zourna" where they paid their respects and placed flowers.

                                               

    The welcoming words were said by Hagop Aintablian on behalf of the Educational Council who welcomed the guests in Anjar "Little Armenia".

    Ashod Kocharian, Ambassador of Armenia in Lebanon, after welcoming author, and Arsakhian hero, Zori Palayian, highly evaluated the great work done by the crew of the “Armenia” sail ship and said that Armenians can overcome any difficulty if they unite their powers.

                                 

    Author Zori Palayian in his words said that he knows great things about the heroic people of Mousa Dagh and the Anjarians who have sheltered a great number of refugees in 1978 are worthy of the heroic Mousa Dagh. He continued saying that Armenians all around the world must unite their powers to achieve greater triumphs.

    Samuel Garabedian, talked briefly about the paths taken by the “Armenia” sail ship and said that the mission done by the sail ship is impressive especially for Armenians in Diaspora.

                                                   

    Mayor of Anjar, Garo Pamboukian, said that Anjarians have small Armenias in their hearts and are overwhelmed by the achievements accomplished there, he sealed the event by handing a symbolic gift to the chief member of the crew, Zori Palayian.

                                                          

     After the official part of the event was finished, the guests visited the “Sarkis Zeitlian" center where they had the chance to discuss the currents affairs with representatives from the village.

                                   


  • Ministers Of Tourism And Culture Visit Anjar

    Ministers of tourism and culture, Gabi Layoun and Fadi Abboud visited Anjar, on Friday, 5th of August, where they were welcomed by Minister, Panos Manjian, Member of Parliament, Hagop Pakraduni, Mayor, Garo Pamboukian, the ARF “Garmir Ler” Committee members, representatives of associations and unions along with representatives from neighboring villages.

                                    

                                             

    After the welcoming words said by the mayor of Anjar in the “S. Zeitlian” Center, the ministers visited the Omayyad ruins of the village where they discussed the possibility of organizing a pan Armenian festival there.

     

    The ministers then visited the historic sites of Zahle, Ferzol and Niha where they assessed the situation of the region.


  • A Footbal Match In the Memory Of Bedig Injeyian

    The football team of HMEM Anjar competed against the HMEM Juniors, to honor the memory of an active athlete of the HMEM Anjar branch, Bedig Injeyian.

                                    

                                             

     The friendly match took place on Sunday, 31st of July, at 4:30pm, in the HMEM Anjar football field, ending with an equal score, and the cup was granted to the visitors’ team as a sign of appreciation…


  • HMEM Kermes

    The Scouts’ Council of HMEM Anjar along with the HMEM scouts organized a Kermes in the HMEM club on Saturday, 30th of July, starting from 7:00pm.

     

                            

    The attendants had the chance to listen to the pleasant music, play fun games, paint their faces and, taste the delicious sandwiches made by the scouts.


  • Obituary

    We sadly inform you about the death of Zabel Tazian Injeyian (born on 1929), which happened on Thursday, 28th of July.

    The funeral service took place on Friday, 29th of July, at 3:00pm in the “St. Boghos” Church of Anjar.


  • “Sourp Kerots” Summer School

    For the last 3 weeks the children of the village have been attending the “Sourp Kerots” Summer school in the Armenian Evangelical Secondary School of Anjar, where a special program, full of summer activities, was delivered to them.

                               

                                      

     The children had the chance to attend classes where they listened to stories from the bible and they worked on their skills like, singing, dancing and playing music. The school ended with a performance on the stage on Friday July 29th at 11:00am.
