News Noubar Kevorkian and Sarine Arslanian were blessed with the holy matrimony, on Saturday, August 14th, in the “St. Boghos” Church. On Sunday, September 19th, Sebouh Shekherdemian and Rozalia Askarian got married, in “Mesrob Mashdots” Church in Ghapan. Congratulations!!! Sebouh Kevorkian was ordained to be a priest on Sunday, 26th of September, in the “St. Boghos” Church, during the ceremony presided by Archbishop Gomidas Ohanian, who also lead the nomination ceremony on Saturday, 25th of September, in the "St. Boghos" Church. We congratulate Sebouh Kevorkian, Father Hrant, and wish him success in his service. We proudly inform you that a compatriot from Anjar, Nazo Andekian, became the 1st Armenian Lawyer in the Bekaa district, after succeeding in the Beirut bar exams for appeal and cassation cases. We congratulate our Lawyer and wish him further success in his career. The elderly compatriots of our village were invited for a gathering in restaurant "Green Garden", during an event organized by Lokh “Aghtamar “Chapter, and having as conductor Mrs. Santoukhd Hergelian. More than 110 attendants were present at the gathering, where they ate, drank, danced, and enjoyed a pleasant mood, as individuals from the attendants told jokes, sang songs, and recited poems. Boghos Kermenian and Armig Boyajian were blessed with the holy matrimony, on Saturday, 18th, of August in the “St. Boghos” Church. Congratulations to the newlyweds!!! The events dedicated to the celebrations of the 70th anniversary of the establishment of Anjar and the 95th anniversary of the Mousa Daghian heroic battle will be broadcasted on “Yergir” Media, on Tuesday, 21st of September, at 5:30pm. The jubilee board of the 70th anniversary of the establishment of Anjar and the 95th anniversary of the Mousa Daghian heroic battle organized a meeting, on Sunday, 12th of September, in the “S. Zeitlian” Center, where the committees and associations who brought their participation in the success of the events dedicated to the twin anniversaries were invited. Mr. Yessayi Havatian welcomed the attendants on behalf of the board and thanked them for their assistance in organizing and accomplishing the celebrations, and before cutting the cake, the attendants had the chance to congratulate the board and propose suggestions for future anniversaries. The front area of the "St. Boghos" Church this Sunday, was in an unusual state, with cameramen and crew of the Lebanese "otv" channel recording a program called meet us at the town square, a competition program between Lebanese villages. Two huge tents were located on the road in front of the church, the blue tent was for the Anjar team and the red tent was for the “Saghbine” team who had come to compete against our village. The longest breath, making traditional “tabule”, tallest person, pushups with 50 kilos on the back, knitting wool, card game, rope pulling, pulling a bus, drinking water, and other games were among the categories of the contest, and the “Gakavig” dance group presented different performances to get bonus points on our score, in an unprecedented atmosphere in our village. the game ended with a difference of 1 point in favor of the team from the “Saghbine” village. The program will be broadcasted 14 weeks later on the Lebanese “otv” Channel and we promise to inform you about its exact date and time soon. “Arakelots” choir of the Lebanese Diocese with its conductor Krikor Alozian, had a performance in the “St. Boghos” Church of Anjar on Saturday, 11th of September, which coincides with the Exaltation of the Holy Cross holiday “Khatchi don”. The event was organized by the Rev. Father and the general vestry of the “St. Boghos” Church under the auspices of the municipality of Anjar. The choir performed songs of Gomidas Vartabed, Mesrob Mashdots, Nerses Shenorhali, Movses Khorenatsi, Gomidas Agtsetsi, Megheti Haroutyunian, Krikor Naregatsi, Magar Yegmalian and Sahag Tsoraporetsi. The scouts of the H.M.E.M. Anjar branch had their annual camping from Monday 23rd of August to Saturday 28th. The scouts had expeditions to different parts of the Bekaa valley, went to the swimming pool, had different kinds of activities in the campground and ended the camping around a huge campfire on Friday eve, dancing, singing and presenting different performances to the large number of attendants present. Sebouh Handian and Marlene Derwishian were blessed with the holy matrimony on Saturday 4th of September, in the “St. Boghos” Church. The same day in the Armenian Evangelical Church of Anjar, Yervant Nekrurian and Loucine Tavitian got married. We congratulate the newlyweds and wish them the best of luck. A movie for children, “Le Petit Nicolas” and another for adults, "سمعان بالضيعة" "Semaan Beldaia" were presented on Friday 13th and Saturday 14th of August, in the oval yard of the “K. Gulbenkian” Secondary School. The events were organized by the Municipality of Anjar in collaboration with the French Cultural center in Lebanon. The Lebanese federation of Kung Fu with the collaboration of the Anjar Black Belt Amity, organized the Lebanese championship contest between the kung fu clubs in Lebanon, which took place in Anjar on Sunday June, 6, 2010. The athletes of ABBA participated in the contest and for the 4th year achieved the 2nd highest score in the competition. Here is the list of the names of the athletes who got medals in contests of different categories and ages: Shantal Adajian: 2 bronze, 1 gold Harout Daghlian: 2 gold, 1 silver Sosse Kazanjian: 3 silver Zakar Zakarian: 1 silver, 1 gold and 1 bronze Christine Arabian: 3 gold Sella hekimian: 2 silver Sarine Arabian: 2 gold 1 silver We congratulate the Anjar Black Belt Amity athletes for their triumph and wish them continuous rise in their achievements.
