Being on the doors of the Lebanese Parliamentary elections which is going to take place on June 7, ARF "Garmir Ler" Committee invited the executive committees of the acting associations and chapters of our village and discussed the various achievements done till now and the role of each chapter on the election day.

On Friday 29 of May at around 8:30 pm "Garmir Ler" Committee members welcomed the Al Sina candidate in the "Alkitle Alshabiyeh" of Zahle, Mr. Rida Almays by the presence of our candidate & MP member Mr. George Kasarji to discuss about the parliamentary elections which are going to take place next Sunday 7th of June.

Like every year in May this year too, “Haratch” Kindergarten celebrated Mothers' Day, on Saturday May 23, at 6:30 pm in “Haratch” kindergartens' back yard. On the entrance mothers were given beautiful flowers.

  
The event started by the opening words by the director of the kindergarten Miss Haverj Shkherdmian, who on behalf of the school congratulated mothers on their special day.

Mrs. Irma Dedeyan from Beirut gracefully recited a wonderful bouquet of Armenian poems of our famous Armenian writers dedicated to the mothers, then the students of the kindergarten participated in the event by singing, dancing and reciting poems in Armenian, English, and Arabic.
At the end of the event the graduated class and their director cut the cake ending the event in high spirits. 

On Friday 22nd of May, Hamazkayin "B.Sevag" Chapter had organized a wine anointment evening dedicated to the latest published books of our talented and well known writer, Mr. Boghos Snabian.

 The presentation of the newly published books were made by Mrs. Salpie Tashjian and Mr. Yessayi Havatian, whereas his life journey was presented by a PowerPoint presentation prepared by Mr. Haitoug Tchaparian accompanied by a reading from his book by Mrs. Arpa Andonian.

Mrs. Sevan Metlian also took a part in the evening by performing two Armenian songs on the occasion, after which the spiritual leaders anointed the books with wine.  Finally, Mr. Snabian shared his thoughts on that touching occasion and expressed his deepest gratitude to the organizing committee for its initiative.

A "Hampartsoum" feast organized  by LOKH "Aghtamar" Chpater, took place on Friday May 22 beginning from 2:00 pm in “Razmig’s” restaurant.

After the welcoming words made by Ms. Tsoghig Havatian on behalf of the "Aghtamar" Chapter, she invited Mrs. Rita Kusbegian to conduct the feast.

The conductor not only made them spent joyful time but also conveyed her message concerning "Hampartsoum' Day, Mother's Day and Independence of Armenia.

 Worth mentioning that speeches were also made by our compatriots who had started to come to Anjar from different corners of the world.

By the charming voice of Mrs. Shake Baghdasarian,  our well known Armenian Lebanese singer our comrades danced and enjoyed the beautiful scene surrounding them.

On Friday 15th of May Hamazkayin "B.Sevag" Chapter celebrated the 85th anniversary of one of the greatest Armenian poets of this century, and perhaps the most popular among Armenians all over the world, Barouyr Sevag.

The celebration event took place in the "Mousa Ler" Hall, by the organization of the Cultural Committee of the chapter, where the opening words were made by Mrs. Lalig Khoshian on behalf of the committee, after which she invited the students of "K.Guilbenkian" Sec. School and Arm. Evan. School to beautify the event by gracefully reciting a bunch of his amazing poems. The event also included a PowerPoint presentation of the writer's life. 

By the organization of the "George Frem" Association and under the auspices of our Water committee, an agricultural meeting took place on Thursday 7th of May in the "S.Zetlian" Center.

Ms. Vandala Kareh from the AMAR institution was invited to give thorough explanation about new methods of planting fruit trees, different kinds of rootstocks and use of the appropriate pesticides. At the end of the lecture they were able to get a beneficial brochure about methods of agriculture in the Bekaa valley.

The Parents' Committee of Arm. Evan. Kindergarten School, organized a feast to celebrate Mothers’ Day, on Friday 8 of May at 2.30pm in Restaurant "Arev".

            
Mrs. Ani Kerkezian, on behalf of the Committee made the opening words then invited Mrs. Kayane Mesrlian to convey the message of the day.

For more than three hours, the conductor of the feast, Mrs. Dzaghig Habeshian, made our parents spend wonderful time, where they tasted the delicious food and danced on the rhythm of the Armenian music.  

By the organization of Beirut International Marathon and by the sponsorship of the Ministry of the Environment the Earth Race 2009 HSBC Half marathon started on Sunday 26th of April, with the participation of 7000 athletes.

                                      
As every year, our compatriot, the athlete Mr. Levon Tashjian participated in the marathon in the name of HMEM Anjar branch and won the forth position in his category. At the end of the race, Mr. Levon mentioned that he dedicated this race to 1.5 million martyrs of the Armenian Genocide.
