Ms. Zepure Topalian passed away on Friday 27th of March after suffering from illness for a long period of time

The funeral service took place on Saturday 28th of March at 2:00 pm in the "St.Paul" church. Our deepest condolences to her family and relatives.

The cultural committee of the Hamazkayin "B.Sevag" Chapter has organized a musical eve on Friday 27th of March in the "Mousa Ler" Hall.

The musicians on this eve were not any visitors from outside but our talented junior artists, who had either began their musical pathway recently or they had already started few years ago.

Here are our young artists, who played on different musical instruments for an hour brining pride to their parent and joy to the audience.

Juniors: Shant Palazian, Meghry Karakashian, Arax Khoshian, Shahan Karigian, Alexandra Kusbegian, Hovsep Msrlian, Arpa Taslakian, Davigh Atamian, Khajag Atamian, Nayira Atamian, Shant Pilavjian and Naroy Atamian (Piano). Hagop Pilavjian (Bouzoukia), Tro Pehlivanian (Org), Zakar Zakarian ( Derbakeh), Christ Pehlivanian ( Dhol).

     
Seniors : Karin Chekijian, Sela Batouzian, Datev Atamian, Nanor Stamboulian, Arin Taslakian & Lory Aintablian ( Piano).

Vartoug Kendirjian, Lory Kouyoumjian and Raffi Taslakian (Guitar), Serli Batouzian ( Violen), and Lale Andonian ( Flute).

By the organization of the alumni association of the Arm. Evangelical School, a special event dedicated to the 140th anniversary of our renowned Armenian churchman and talented musician, Gomidas Vartabed.

                         
The opening words were made by the chairman of the association, Dr. Mateos Matosian, where after speaking about his endless role in the Armenian music,  introduced Dr. Tamar Hovhanisian who was invited to present Gomidas Vartabed.

For 80 minutes, Dr. Hovhanissian on her own special way revived the memory of Gomidas Vartabed by presenting the interesting turns of his life and by presenting some of his wonderful pieces on piano.

The Feast Of "Michink" Organized By The Women's Association of the "St.Paul" Church took place on Friday 20th of March, at 2:00 pm in the restaurant "Arev" by the presence of more than 100 women.

After a prayer by Rev. father Ashod Karakashian, Mrs. Ani Keosheian, who was the conductor of the feast spoke about the religious,  national and popular meaning of "Michink".

Then they danced and spent wonderful time with the special Armenian songs which was played by DJ Vahakn Panossian.

A new article about Mousadagh and Kesab was published in the Nouvelle D'armenie Magazine February edition ( No. 149 Fevrier 2009) on the pages 72 and 73.

On Wednesday 18th of March, “Michink” was celebrated in the “St. Boghos” Church in the presence of a large number of believers and the students of the Haratch “K. Guilbenkian” Sec. School.

After speaking about the religious meaning of "Michink", Rev. Father Ashod Karakashian spoke to students by telling them to obey their parents and teachers and to be faithful believers in front of God.

                          
At the end of the prayers, the Women’s Committee of the Church distributed breakfast (Manaish) to the presents.

As all our compatriots know that the year 2009 coincides with the 70th anniversary of the establishment of our beloved village Anjar. Thus, the committee of the 70th anniversary had decided to commemorate this event with episode of events and a pilgrimage to Mousadagh.

But regarding the Lebanese elections, the ARF "Garmir Ler" Committee decided to postpone the commemoration to next year with the 95th anniversary of the Mousadaghain heroic battle.

Though we have been seeing a sunny weather for the past week, but heavy rains and snow that fall in Anjar during the winter season made our spring to overflow eradicating any water problem that we could face in the summer season.

By the organization of the Hamazkayin "B.Sevag" Chapter, teachers' day was celebrated on Sunday 8th of March, in the "S.Zetlian" center, by the presence of the teachers of the three schools of Anjar.

  The message of the day was conveyed by Mr. Garo Hovahannessian, where after remembering some sweet memories from his teaching career, he spoke about the important role of the teacher specially the role of the Armenian teacher.

The program included a group song performed by the students of the Arm. Evan. School and two pieces on piano and violent played by Karen Chekidjian and Sela Batouzian from the KGSS, after which the turn was given to the teachers to share their experience and memories with the presents.

With our deep sorrow we inform you the death of Mrs. Sima Kadian, that happened on Friday 6th of March. The funeral service took place on the same day in the "Armenian Evangelical" Church.      

And on Monday 9th of March, Mrs. Arpi Bedrosian passed away after

suffering from illness for a short period of time. The funeral service took place on the same day in the "Arm. Catholic church of Anjar. Our deepest condolences to both families.

Dr. Antranig Kasbarian, who has been visiting Lebanon by the invitation of the Lebanese Artsakh Fond Committee visited Anjar on Sunday, first of March to give a lecture about developing Artsakh.

  
The opening words were made by Ms. Tsoghig Havatian, on behalf of Anjar the "Artsakh" fond. With PowerPoint presentation Dr. Antranig Kasbarian presented the various problems of Artsakh and methods of development, then showed a documentary film presenting development of life in some villages due to the great effort of the "Tufenkian" foundation. At the end of the lecture attendants were able to ask various question concerning the topic.

The ointment of the new book, "Bishop Dr. Sahag Gokian" for Mesrob Herouni (Father Mesrob Topalian) took place on Friday 27^th of February in the "Mousa Ler" hall by the organization of the Hamazakyin "B.Sevag" Cultural committee.
During the event pastors of the village, members of the different associations and a large number of compatriots from Anjar and Zahle were present. The opening words were made by the chairman of the Chapter, Mr. Hagop Aintbalian, where he spoke about the literary life of the author and mentioned that this book is his 43^rd published book. Then Ms. Lory Aitbalian played to pieces on the piano, after which Mr. Mesrob Kendirjian was invited to present the book.

                           
By reading some paragraphs from the book Mr. Kendirjian presented the different life stages of Bishop Dr. Sahag Gokian beginning from Akhaltskha, Vienna, Bolice, Bulgaria, Romania, New York, Boston and Beirut. The ointment of the book was made by the Rev. Father Ashod Karakashian, by the participation of the other pastors present. Lia Keohulian sang a prayer (written by Father Mesrob Topalian) with the participation of Mrs. Sossi Aintablian on piano.  
At last the words were given to the author of the book, Mesrob Herouni, where he expressed his gratitude to the Lord for giving him the strong will to make this achievement.
