News The celebration of the 90th anniversary of the Armenian Independence started when the HMEM fanfare and the scouts started marching in the main road of Anjar, followed by all the organizations and associations of the village. Later people joined them as they passed by their houses ending up in front yard of “S.Zetlian” center, where the celebration was going to take place, organized by the ARF "Garmir Ler" Committee's Educational Committee and The AYF LEM "Shavarsh Misakian" Chapter.
The program of the event included various performances presented by the students of the three schools including poems, dances and songs. The event ended by a group of Armenian patriotic and revolutionary songs performed by the HMEM fanfare. Like every year in May, “Haratch” Kindergarten celebrated its Mothers Day, on Saturday May 24, at 6:30 pm in the yard of the kindergarten. On the entrance, mothers were able to view the wonderful and creative drawings of our little artists.
At the end, the graduating class was invited to cut the cake ending the event in high spirits. On Thursday 22nd of May, Lokh "Aghtamar" Chapter has organized a ceremony in the "Filhanessian" Center, where students of the needlework classes received certificates for successfully accomplishing the courses. Worth mentioning that six different types of Armenian needleworks: Van-Svaz, Ourfa, Aintab, Marash, Hink-Mil, Makok have been taught to our ladies during the past year. During the month of March, a Mousadaghian - Anjarian traditional feast took place in Montreal, where through the relentless efforts of our compatriots there an amount of 1275 Canadian dollars & 100 U.S. $ were raised for the LOKH "Aghtamar" Chapter, which in its turn is going to help needy families in the village.
One of the most active committees of LOKH "Aghtamar" chapter, the Handcraft committee, is continuing its various activities and every month they are learning a new type of Armenian needlework. This mont they were able to learn the Norwegian -Aintab, which was taught by Mr. Tsoline Doumanian. Take a look to their needleworks. On the St. Fatima's Day, May 13th, the catholic community has organized a procession (tapor) led by Father Mesrob Topalian around the Catholic church. Special prayers were made and spiritual songs were song along the turn which was accompanied by a bid crowd of believers, who all prayed for peace in Armenian, Artsakh and specially in our country Lebanon. On Monday 5th of May, at 10:00am, LOKH "Filhannesian" Center was full of more than 85 compatriots, who had come to a lecture organized by the Educational committee of the chapter, having as a lecturer, Mrs. Sossy Poladian from the Central Educational committee of LOKH, having as a theme, "Rights Of Women And The Limits Of Their Freedom". The opening words were made by the Ms. Garine Kesablian form the organizing committee, after which she invited Mrs. Hasmig Kevorkian from the Central educational committee of lokh, who spoke about their activities and their roles in the different lokh chapters around Lebanon. Then the speaker of the day was invited to convey her message.
Due to the latest political crisis in Lebanon, the "S.Zetlian" center is open 24 hours a day, to provide any
necessity and possible shortages of essential commodities that we can face.
By the organization of Lebanese Kung Fu & Wushu Federation, the final contest of the competition took place in Anjar, on Sunday 4th of May in the "K.Guilbenkian" hall. ***Traditional Long Weapon Medal Vatche Daghlian (13-15 yrs.) Bronze The “Aghtamar” Chapter of LOKH had invited all the representatives of communities and associations to a Memorial Mass in Anjar for the souls of all former LOKH members who had departed our world.
On Friday second of May, the cultural committee of Hamazkayin "B.Sevag" Chapter organized a poetry night among the students of the three schools of Anjar.
A feast for celebrating “Hampartsoum”was organized by the LOKH "Aghtamar" Chapter on Friday second of May in restaurant and Hotel "Shelalat Anjar". The welcoming words made by Mrs. Tamar Kendirjian on behalf of the organizing committee, then the words on this occasion of the executive committee was made by the chairwoman of the chapter Mrs. Madlen Khoshian. The celebration was continued till 6.00 pm, during which the conductor of the feast, Mrs. Suzie Nashalian created a joyful atmosphere and made the attendants play games & told jokes. Our women ate delicious food, danced, and enjoyed the great music played by the D.J. Boggy (Boghos Kendirjian).
May 1st workers’ day was celebrated in Anjar as usual, and the orchards of Anjar were the ideal place for visitors to relax and enjoy the beauty of our nature. |
