The administration of "K. Guilbenkian" Secondary School has organized a painting exhibition for its students on Friday, 27th of June in the "Mousa Ler" hall.

                      
The opening words were made by the principal of the school Mr. Armen Tashjian, where he welcomed the attendants, congratulated the students for their achievements and expressed his deepest gratitude to all those who had contributed to the success of the exhibition especially the teacher, Mr. Raffi Andonian.

   
Then, he invited Mr.Yessayi Havatian, who had been a former teacher in the school to convey his message. Mr. Havatian said that as a former teacher of the school he is so proud of the talents of the new generation, because the drawings are so creative and need a wide imagination, which is present in every picture. Then he cut the ribbon with Mr. Raffi Andonian and went inside to enjoy the paintings of the students.

On Thursday 27th of June, the front yard of the "S.Zetlian" Center was full of compatriots who had come to hear the latest news of Armenia "Khabrigner Haysdanen" conveyed by Mr. Gabriel Panosian.

With a bunch of photos he talked about the latest news of our motherland and answered to the questions asked by the compatriots. 

Mr. Hovig Khoshian got married with Ms. Anna Krikorian from Armenian in the "St.Paul church" Anjar, on Sunday 22nd of June. Congratulations...

On Friday 20th of June, the Cultural committee of the Hamazkayin "B.Sevag" Chapter has organized a lecture about one of our prominent writers, Hagop Oshagan, having as a lecturer Prof. Marc Neshanian, who is a lecturer in the Haigazian University of Beirut. For one and half of an hour, he spoke about the writer's visit to the "Changhere" prison and some of his writings which were never been published.

The kindergarten graduation ceremony of both schools, the Arm. Evan. Sec. School & "K.Guilbenkian " Sec. School took place on Saturday, 21st of June.

  
Both School students came together on different stages entertaining their parents, teachers and relatives with their childish songs, dances and performance having as themes The Peace and The Armenian Church.

The celebration which lasted for almost one and half of an hour was sealed with the graduating classes receiving their first diplomas in life. Congratulations...

On Saturday 14th of June, our compatriot Ms. Naiyri Kevorkian got married with Mr. Panos Tutunjian from Beirut at the "St. Neshan" church in Beirut. Congratulations to the newly wed couple...

The Beirut Marathon started on Sunday, first of June at 8.30 am with the participation of more than 600 athletes from ten countries.

As every year, our compatriot, the athlete Mr. Levon Tashjian participated in the marathon in the name of HMEM Anjar branch and won the second position in his category.

Mr. Levon mentioned that he participated in the marathon for the occasion of the 90th anniversary of the Armenia's independence and for peace in Lebanon. Congratulations...

AlJazirah Tv channel is preparing a documentary film about Armenians in Lebanon. Anjar, which plays an important role in the Lebanese Armenian community will take a significant part in the film. The "Hot Spot" production crew of the AlJazirah Channel visited Anjar for three days recording our the three communities, the churches, the schools and the orchards.

On Sunday 15th of June, more than twenty girls and boys wearing white dresses celebrated the sacrament of initiation into the Roman Catholic Church by receiving their first Holy Communion.

The ceremony which was headed by the Father H. Kevork Yeghyayan, took place at 10.30 am in the "St. Asdvazazin" Church of Anjar.

                         
In the Mass they are accepting what Catholics believe to be the body and blood of Jesus Christ, said Father Hovhannes Keyrouzian. He continued by telling that: "It's an occasion to celebrate with the family. They are the children, who are entering their faith on their own and membership into the church." He ended his words by saying: "Now that you received the first Communion, God will never leave you alone because now you got him in your body."

Mr. Antranig Boghigian, died on Friday June 13, in Damascus after suffering from illness for a long period of time.
The funeral services took place on Sunday, at 3:00pm. in the "St.Paul" Church of Anjar. Our deep condolences to his family and relatives.

Ms. Takouhi Der Nersesian, died on Monday June 9, at an age of 69.
The funeral services took place on Tuesday, at 1.00pm. in the Catholic Church of Anjar. Our deep condolences to her family and relatives.

By the organization of the committee responsible for the improvement and the  development of Anjar of the ARF "G.Ler" Committee, an agricultural workshop took place in the "S.Zetlian" center, on Friday, 6th of June at 7:00 pm.
After an opening word made by the chairman of the committee Mr. Vartkes Khoshian, he introduced the agricultural engineers Mr. Milad Reieshy and Ms. Vandala Kareh from the AMAR institution and invited them to start the workshop.

For more than an hour they spoke about healthy ways of growing apple, different kinds of rootstocks and use of the appropriate pesticides. The workshop was efficient to our farmers because they were able to find many solutions to the problems that they are facing in Anjar.

In the memory of her mother, Ms. Haygouhi Kasamanian donated 500 U.S.$ to the Lokh "Aghtamar" Chapter.

The Chapter expresses its deepest gratitude for all its sponsors who are supporting the Chapter to continue its mission in serving our community.

On Saturday night, HMEM Anjar branch has organized a barbeque night in the playground of its club beginning from 8.30pm.

Ms. Sevan Atamian made the opening words, then invited the guest singer Ms. Carmen Adjemian, who created a joyful atmosphere with our Armenian traditional and folkloric songs beside the delicious barbeque which was being prepared by the scouts of the HMEM chapter. 

The month of May for the Armenians is the month to honor our mothers and their devotion to their families.

The Catholic community dedicates the same month to the mother of our savior St. Mary, when prayers were held on daily basis.

On the 31st of May, the season of prayers for St. Mary came to an end and with a special gathering, where her statue was carried around the church with a holy procession and was covered with flowers.

With our deep sorrow, we inform you the tragic death of our compatriot Movses Tumberian (30 yrs.) that happened on Monday, second of June few days after having a motor cycle accident.  The funeral service took place on Tuesday, 3rd of June at 3:00 pm in the Armenian Evangelical Church of Anjar.

 We express our deepest condolences to his family and relatives for the loss of their beloved son, brother and friend.

"Roupen Nakian" Academy of the Hamazkayin "B.Sevag" Chapter has organized an exhibition of its students on the occasion of the May 28 Independence.

The opening ceremony took place on Friday, 30th of May in the "S.Zetlian" Center at 7.30 pm, where the opening words were made by Mr. Hovhannes Khoshian on behalf of the Hamazkayin Chapter. After expressing the chapter's gratitude to the teacher, Mr. Raffi Andonian and to the students, he invited him and Rev. Father Arsen Keshishian to cut the ribbon, and announced the opening of the exhibition, which remained open until late Sunday afternoon.

On 26th of May, Mr. & Mrs. Bedig and Heghnar Karakashian were blessed with their second son, Sako, brother of Ashod. Congratulations....

With our deep sorrow we inform you the death of Mrs. Anoush Taslakian, who passed away on 29th of May. The funeral services were held at the same day, in the           "St. Asdvazazin" Church.

On the next day 30th of May, Mr. Nerses Nersesian died in his home after suffering from illness for a long period of time. The funeral services were held on Saturday, 31st of May, in the "St. Paul" Church, Anjar.
