With our deep sorrow we inform you the sudden death of our compatriot Mr. Yessayi Ashkarian ( 46 yrs.) that happened on Thursday 28th of August. The funeral services took place on Friday 29th of August at 3:00 pm in the "St.Paul" church. Our deepest condolences to his family members, relatives and friends.

On Wednesday 27th of August Mr. & Mrs. Vartan and Lena Vartanian were blessed with their third child a baby boy, Neshan, brother of Carol and Taline. Congratulations...

For the second year, Shoushanian" Sunday school of the "St.Paul" Church, had organized summer activities extending from July 7 till 25.

All children who were between 4 and 12 participated in this activity, which was directed by Mr. Sebouh Kevorkian beside a group of teachers.

At the end of their activities they had a performance on the stage of the "K.Guilbenkian" Sec. School, where they sang songs and said prayers, before ending with a prayer by Rev. Father Ashod Karakashian.

The first wedding of this weekend started with the couples Mher Kendirjian and Talar Penenian on Saturday 23rd of August  at 7.30 pm in the "St. Paul" church, where the reception ceremony took place in the "Nabaa Anjar" restaurant.

The weddings of Sunday started with the wedding of the principal of KGSS Mr. Armen Tashjian with a compatriot from Beirut, Ms.Salpie Kurkjian at 5:00 pm, while after two hours our compatriots Mr. Sevag Kendirjian and Ms. Lisa Skayan were the third couple this week to enter the cage of marriage. We congratulate them and wish the best of luck.

On Saturday 16th of August Mr. and Mrs. Razmig and Lousig Stamboulian were blessed with their first child, a baby boy, Jivan. Congratulations...

The new ambassador of Armenia in Lebanon Mr. Roupen Khadalian and the consul Mr. Ashod Vartanian visited Anjar on Monday, 18th of August, where he was welcomed by the Mayor of Anjar Mr.Sebouh Sekayan and the representatives of the ARF "Garmir Ler" committee. After speaking abou the in the municipality center, they gave a vistit to the "S.Zetlian" Center where Mr.Yessayi Havatian gave a brief expalantion about our history then they visited the MousaLer Martyr's monument, the ruins of Anjar and had a delicious lunch in one of our restaurants.

On Sunday, August 17th, "St.Paul" Church was full of believers who came to witness the blessing of the grapes, as a sign of the beginning of the crops' season.
After the blessing of the grapes done by the Rev. Ashod Karakashian, the believers were distributed grapes packed in plastic bags as they came out of the church.

As every year, on the occasion of "St. Mary's Day" the Catholic community organized a fair in their church yard on Saturday evening, the 16th of August, where the traditional "Herisa" was cooked and the young people danced and created a joyful atmosphere.  On Sunday the 17th, after the Mass, the "Herisa" was blessed and distributed to the people along with the blessed grapes.

The guest of the Cultural committee of Hamazkayin "B.Sevag" chapter this week was Mr. Alen Balian, the former vice president of the Lebanese Central Bank, who had come to give a lecture about the economic state of Lebanon. After welcoming him, by Mr. George Apelian, Mr. Balian spoke about the Lebanese current economic crisis gave some solutions to solve them. At the end he answered to the questions of our compatriots which were never-ending. 

Mrs. Nvart Belinjian ( 87 yrs.) passed away on Monday, 11th of August. The funeral services took place on Tuesday at 3:00pm in the "St.Paul" church. Our deepest condolences to her family and relatives.

The weddings of this week started on Friday 8th of August with the first couple being Mr. Levon Kazanjian and Ms. Caroline Keohulian who got married in the "St.Paul" Chruch.

On Saturday 9th of August the new wed couples were Mr. Stephan Doudaklian and Ms. Shaghig Manjian, while on Sunday August 10th Mr. Alex Ashkarian and Ms. Salpie Kouyoumdjian also got married in the "St.Paul" church.

Every year the LOKH Central Committee of Lebanon organizes a rehabilitation center ("gaztourman gayan") for children between 6 and 12 years old.  The "Haratch" Elementary School is used for this purpose and the children spend three weeks learning things, doing crafts, playing, going to trips, eating healthy food, and having fun.

This year the children arrived in Anjar on Monday, the 21st of July; they are around 55 in number. At the end of their stay they had a performance in the "Mousa Ler" hall, which was full of their parents and compatriots who had come to see their dances and songs that they prepared during their stay.

By the organization of the Cultural Committee of Hamazkayin "B.Sevag" Chapter, Mr. Moushegh Karakashian was invited to talk about the Armenian Community of Canada. After welcoming him by Mr.George Apelian on behalf of the committee, Mr. Karakashian spoke about the activities and the achievements of our Armenian community there and at the end our compatriots were able to watch a wonderful theatric play prepared by the compatriots of Canada.

The first visit of the new minister of tourism Mr. Elie Marouni to aAnjar took place on Friday 1st of August at 8.00 pm in the Municipality of Anjar.

Mr. Marouni was welcomed by the mayor of Anjar Mr. Sebouh Sekayan, members of the municipality board & ARF "Garmir Ler" committee and the pastors of the village.

For half an hour he discussed various topics concerning the latest political debates that happened between the ARF and the "Katayeb" political parties and concerning his new position he promised to do his best to develop the tourist sector in Anjar. Then he visited the ruins of Anjar where he made the opening of the festival of Anjar, which was organized by the "Anjar, Arevelki Tarbas" Organization and lasted for two days including Arabic folkloric dances and songs, Armenian dances by the "Nor Serount" dance group and a theatric performance by the "Mounir El ksrwani" theatric group.   

This weekend was full of weddings in our village. Two couples said their "I do"s in the ''St. Paul" church. The first couple was Miro Chaparian and Vera Ohannesian who got married on Saturday 2nd of August at 7.30pm.
Gorun Habeshian and Dzaghig Stamboulian were the second couple, who got married on Sunday 3rd of August.

On Friday first of August, LOKH "Aghtamar" comrades gathered in the "Filhannesian" Center and elected their new executive committee members who were: Araksi Ashkarian, Ani Kendirjian, Tsoghig Havatian, Tamar Kendirjian, Victoria Kevorkian, Anet Palazian and Hasmig Kesablian.

We congratulate the new committee and wish them new achievements and success.

Dr. Khajag & Mrs. Maro Ainatbian were blessed with their second child, a baby girl Naze, on 31st of July.

And on Sunday 3rd of August Mr. & Mrs. Steve and Marine Karayan were blessed with their second child, Naro, sister of Palig. Congratulations...
