  • "Ourfa" Needlework Session Of Lokh "Aghtamar" Chapter

    During the last month, the handcraft committee of Lokh "Aghtamar" Chapter had organized an "Ourfa" needlework sessions for our women, having as an instructor Mrs. Anahid Doudaklian.

                           

    For more than a month they gathered twice a week in the "Filhanessian" Center and were able to weave wonderful needle works, which were shown in the center on their last gathering on Thursday, 20th of September.

            


  • "Khatch Sunday And Blessing Of Herisa"

    On Sunday, September 16, a special Mass was held in the "St.Paul" church which was presided by the Archbishop Gomidas Ohanian and was held in the presence of the  plenipotentiary ambassador of Armenia in Lebanon, Dr. Vahan Der Ghevontian, three pastors of Anjar, representatives of ARF "Garmir Ler" Committee, official members of all associations of Anjar and a large number of believers.

                       

                       

         

    After the Mass, the procession of the spiritual personnel led the people towards the the Moussa Daghian Martyr's Monument, to held a special memorial Mass for the souls of all Mousadghian martyrs and bless the "Herissa".

                      

    At the end of the event all the attendants sang "Giligia" after which the "Herisa" was distributed to the people present, who were waiting anxiously

  • Saturday Night Festival

    At around 10:00pm a song festival was organized by the ARF "Garmir Ler" Committee's Educational Council.

    At the beginning a speech was made by Mr. George Apelian, in the name of the organizing committee. In his words Mr. Apeilan mentioned the heroic resistance of the Mousadaghians and their eternal victory; moreover he glorified the triumph of the Lebanese army and the memory of all the martyrs, who sacrificed their life for higher national values.

                           

                              

    The event took its festive mood with our well known Lebanese-Armenian singer Ararad Aharonian, after which the plenipotentiary ambassador of Armenia in Lebanon, Dr. Vahan Der Ghevontian conveyed hiss message.

                              

    He said, " What Mousadghians have done 92 years ago, is a pride and a privilege for all Armenians and an astonishment for all other nations, that is why the Austrian author Franz Verfel, wrote  his novel based on his overwhelming impression about the best example of strong will and actualization of freedom. "

     

                                                

    Then the conductor of the feast, Mr. Saro Kendirjian presented many Mousadaghian native wishes and proverbs stressing on the importance of such commemoration to keep the Armenian spirit in minds of today's youth, after which he invited Lebanese Armenian singers, Kevork Bebedjian and Vicken Dischekenian to enrich the feast with national and folkloric Armenian songs.

      

    Exactly at midnight, our traditional Daoul Zourna was the climax of joyfulness, where hundreds of compatriots encircled around the conventional music of the past and memories.

     


  • Nanor Hadjian's Third Private Exhibition

    On Saturday, 15th of September, at 8:00pm hundreds of compatriots were gathered in  "k.Guilbnekian" hall for the opening ceremony of our artist Nanor Hadjian's third private exhibition, in the presence of the three pastors, the plenipotentiary ambassador of Armenia in Lebanon, Dr. Vahan Der Ghevontian, who made the official opening of the exhibition.

             

     
    After cutting of the ribbon, Mr. Yessayi Havatian, on behalf of the Educational Council of ARF "Garmir Ler" Committee made the opening words by presenting the artist Nanor Hadjian, specially mentioning her talents and the success of her previous exhibitions. Then invited the ambassador Dr. Der Ghevontian to convey his message.

                            

    The ambassador congratulate our artist for her efforts and revealed the importance of encouraging such events for the survival of our culture.

    At the end Nanor Hadjian expressed her deepest gratitude to all who contributed for the success of her exhibition and she promised to enlarge her collection about Anjar's and MousaLer's traditions and life style.

    The exhibitor remained open on Sunday, where thousand of compatriots were able to enjoy her 41 wonderful paintings.


  • "Khatch" Saturday Afternoon...

    As every year, thousands of Armenian compatriots from all over Lebanon, Syria and Jordan started to pour into Anjar, from Saturday getting ready to commemorate the 92nd anniversary of the Heroic Battle of MousaDagh.

                         
    The main road of Anjar took its traditional "Khatch" look beginning from 3.00 pm, with people crowded on the streets, while behind the Mousadagh Martyr's Monument, the sheep donated as sacrifice were butchered and the wheat which was cleaned by the "Kharaghpur" Women's Association being washed and getting ready to be cooked for the "Herisa".

                         

    The vertical main street was also crowded as usual with kiosks were different kind of sandwiches, sweets, corn, leathers articles and gadgets were being sold.


  • The Exhibition Of "R.Nakian" Academy

    The events of the 92nd anniversary of the Heroic Battle of Mousadagh started on Friday 14th of September, by the opening ceremony of "R.Nakian" Academy exhibition, in the "S.Zetlian" Center. The opening words were made by Mr. Hagop Aintablian, on behalf of the Hamazkayin "B.Sevag" Chapter. 

                         
    After welcoming the audience, Mr. Aintablian expressed his deep gratitude to the teacher of the academy Mr. Raffi Andonian and in the name of the chapter promised to make their best for the success of this academy. Mr. Aintablian continued by speaking about the paintings, which have been drawn in Amenian and Artsakh during the visit of the student to their motherland in the past two weeks.

           

    Then two of the students, Nare Havatian and Laury Aintablian spoke about their wonderful experience of creating in the bosom of the motherland's nature. After that the artist Haroutoun Torosian was invited to convey the message of the day. In his words Mr. Torosian expressed the importance of encouraging such talented small artists and congratulated the chapter for the success of this exhibition.

       

    Then Rev. Father Ashod Karakashian and Mr. Torosian cut the ribbon and went inside to enjoy the marvelous creations of our small artists.


  • Tiaraji Baboug Is No Longer With Us...

    With our deep sorrow we inform you that Tiaraji Baboug (Bedros Doumanian 83 yrs.) passed away on Tuesday, 11th of September after suffering from illness for a long period of time.

    The funeral service took place on Wednesday, 12th of September, at 2:30pm in the "St.Paul" church.  Our deepest condolences to his family and relatives.


  • Anjar "Khatch" Program Is Set

    The celebration of the Heroic Battle of Mousadagh here in Anjar is going to take place on this weekend that is on Sunday September 18.
    In this respect, we can say that that the ARF "Garmir Ler" Committee's Educational Council has already started to plan the celebration events of the 92th anniversary of the Heroic Battle of Mousa Dagh in collaboration with the active associations of Anjar. Here is the list of the celebration events that are going to take place:


    ***On Friday, 14th of September: An art exhibition of "R.Nakian" Academy's students at 7.00 pm, in the "S.Zeitlian" Center.
    ***On Saturday, 15th of September, at 8:00pm in the "K.Guilbenkian" hall: A Painting exhibition of our artist Nanor Hadjian, by the auspices of the three spiritual leaders of the village. The opening ceremony will be conducted by Dr. Vahan Der Ghevontian, ambassador of the republic of Armenia in Lebanon.
    ***On Saturday, 15th of September, at 10:00pm, a musical concert in the Mousa Ler Martyr’s Monument area, by the performance of our well known Lebanese-Armenian singers Shake Baghdasarian, Vicken Dischekenian and Kevork Bebedjian. The message of the day will be conducted by Dr. Vahan Der Ghevontian, ambassador of the republic of Armenia in Lebanon.

    ***On Sunday, September 16: A Mass is going to take place in the churches, considering that the Heroic Battle celebrations coincide with the Christian "Khachverts" Event, after which the "Herisa" will be distributed to the people.


  • Weddings...

    Congratulations to Mr. Anto Kouyoumjian and Miss Sevan Der Hovhanesian, who got married on Saturday, 8th of September in the "St. Paul" church.
    And on Sunday, September 9, another couple, Mr. Tro Taslakian and Miss Maggie Jabrayan got married in the "St.Paul" Church. 
    We congratulate both of them and wish them the best of luck...


  • Obituary

    With our deep sorrow we inform you the death of Mrs. Marie Feslian (Atamian), that happened on Tuesday 4th of September. The funeral service took place on Wednesday, 5th of September at 1:00 pm, in the "St.Paul" Church.

     Our deepest condolences to her family and relatives.


  • "Shoushanian" Sunday School's Summer Activities

    "Shoushanian" Sunday school of the "St.Paul" Church, had organized summer activities for this year extending from August 20 till 31st.

                    
    All children who were between 4 and 11 participated in this activity, which was directed by Mrs. Hamesd Jambazian beside a group of teachers.

                      
    And on Saturday, 1st of September, they had their performance on the stage of "Mousa Ler" hall, where they sang songs and said prayers, before ending with a prayer by Rev. Father Ashod Karakashian.


  • Obituaries

    Mrs. Marie Koudjanian (Besens Marie) passed away on Friday 31st of August after spending few days in hospital. The funeral service took place on Saturday, at the "St. Paul" church.

    On the dawn of Saturday 1st of September, the two brothers Inknadios and Harout Hadjians passed away, after suffering from illness for a short period of time. The funeral service took place on the same day, at 3:30 pm in the "St.Paul" Church.

    We express our deepest condolences to the families, relatives and all people of Anjar for the loss of our compatriots.


  • A Political Conversation With MP Member Mr. Hagop Pakradouni

    By the organization of ARF ''Garmir Ler'' committee's Educational council, a political conversation-meeting took place with the Lebanese MP member, Mr. Hagop Pakradouni, on Friday, 31st of August in the front yard of the "S.Zetlian" Center.   
    Mayor of Anjar Mr. Sebouh Sekayan, chairman of the ARF "Garmir Ler" Committee, representatives of the three communities as well as hundreds of compatriots were present during the meeting.

                                                

    The opening words were delivered by the chairman of the Educational Council Mr. George Apelian, who presented the MP member specially highlighting the decisive answers that he gave for all those who tried to underestimate the Lebanese-Armenians especially the ARF leadership during the last elections.

                                   
    For almost an hour, Mr. Pakradouni presented the Lebanese political situation, beginning from the independence day, the latest elections of the Metn region till the undefined presidential elections.
    At the end, the attendants were given the chance to ask question about several issues and received satisfactory answers.
