For the fifth consecutive year, our compatriot Mr. Levon Tashjian has participated in the 5th Beirut International Marathon, on Sunday, 18th of November. More than twenty thousands athletes from 65 different countries participated in the Marathon and ran different categories. Our athlete ran 42 km distance and occupied the fifth position in his category. We congratulate him and wish him further success next year.

During his visit to Lebanon, Senator S. Joseph Simitian, the senate of the 11th district of California gave us a visit on Sunday, November the 25th.
He was welcomed by the ARF "Garmir Ler" Committee and its Education Council, in the "S.Zetlian" Center.

                            
The senator gave a brief explanation about his affairs in California and talked about the role and the efforts of the Californian districts' senates in passing of the resolution 106 by the House Foreign Affairs.

Worth mentioning that the senate expressed his deep confidence and optimism to the passage of the resolution by the House no matter how vast the obstacles would be.
Then, Mr. Yessayi Havatian gave a short explanation about our history and he ended his trip by visiting Mousadagh Martyr's monument.

On the occasion of International Children's Day, Parents’ Committee of the "Haratch K. Guilbenkian" Secondary School organized a breakfast party for the parents in Restaurant "Arev" on Friday, November 23rd at 10am.

               
Mrs. Ani Dukenjian made the opening words on behalf of the committee, then invited Mrs. Nanor Hadjian to conduct the feast.

After speaking about the International Children's Day, Mrs. Hadjian increased the joy of the feast with her anecdotes beside the Armenian beats which made everyone dance and spend joyful hours. 

On Saturday, 17th of November, the board of trustees and the alumni association of Armenian Evangelical Sec. School has organized a traditional Armenian feats, in the "Nabaa Anjar" restaurant.

The feast was enriched by our well known Lebanese-Armenian singers, Shake Baghdasarian, Kevork Bebejian and Vicken Dischekenian, who quenched the thirst of their fans and made them  pass a great evening beside our traditional Dawoul Zourna.

We hope that the feast served its purpose, which was collecting money to supply the needs of mazoot for the school.

On Friday, 16th of November Mr. & Mrs. Ara and Dzovig Apelian were blessed with their second child, a baby girl, Arkina. Congratulations...

On Friday 16th of November by the organization of the Cultural Committee of the Hamazkayin “B. Sevag” Chapter, Prof. Mark Neshanian (An Armenian-French armenolog) was invited to give a lecture about the motives that made Lord Byron learn Armenian language.
After the welcoming words delivered by Mr. George Apelian, Prof. Neshanian spoke about the motives, explaining in details his visit and stay in Mekhitarian Monastery and their role in motivating him learn Armenian.

As we all know that LOKH "Aghtamar" Chapter has been established since 65 years. This week they are going to celebrate their 65th anniversary in a special ceremony that is going to take place on Saturday, 24th of November.

The Chapter invites all our compatriots to share them their happiness on this occasion.
Of course, the details of the celebration event is going to be posted on our website during the next week.

The Arm. Evan. Small Boys Boarding school of Anjar organized a kermis in the "Hedwig" hall, on Saturday November 11th, starting from 3:00pm.

                             
The hall was full of parents and children of different ages, where various kinds of sweets were being sold at one side and different kinds of games were being played in another corner, with the rhythms of the Arabic and Armenian songs.

By the invitation of the French Belford district Union, a delegation composed of five mayors from the middle Bekaa region including our mayor Mr. Sebouh Sekayan visited Belford to participate in the celebration of the 700th anniversary of the region and to deepen the relationship between Belford and the middle Bekaa region.
The delegation arrived to France on 9th of September, where they were welcomed by the vice president of the union Mr. Jean Claude Shiraz.

During their stay, they visited the defense ministry center of Belford and were able to see a live rescue mission. They also attended a conference including delegations from Serbia, Burkina Faso, China and Germany and discussed ways of improving the relationships. At last they predicated in the 700th anniversary of the Belford establishment and returned back to Lebanon hopping that this visit wont serve the Bekka region only but Lebanon too.
