LOKH "Aghtamar" Chapter had invited the members of its different active committees in the snack of Mr. Garo Shannakian to spend a warm and an intimate time with each other.

For almost to hours each committee read its annual report and promised to continue their activities during the coming months.

Worth mentioning that during the "Hampartsoum" feast, a corner was dedicated to the needleworks of the LOKH comrades prepared during this year.

On Friday 25th of May, Prof. Samuel Kandilian and Mrs. Anahid Gharibian, members from ATP (Armenian Tree Project) of Armenia visited Anjar and gave a lecture about their activities, their main goals and the benefits of nurseries, at 2:00 pm in "Mousa Ler" hall.

                       
ATP was founded in 1994 in to further on Armenia's economic and social development by assisting the Armenian people to use trees to improve their environment and standard of living. ATP mobilizes resources to fund reforestation and the preservation of remaining ecosystems.

                                      
ATP joined the worldwide tree planting campaign launched by the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) for the year 2007 and planted 50 of those trees in different locations in Anjar on Saturday morning with the participation of the students of three school and HMEM Anjar scouts.

All events that were predicted to take place on the occasion of May 28th Independence are postponed to undefined dates, including the event of the 100th anniversary of "Kevork Chavoush" which was organized by AYF "Haratch" Chapter, due to the latest crisis in Lebanon.

“Haratch” kindergarten students visited “S. Zeitlian” Center, on Thursday, 24th of May, waving the Armenian flag and celebrating May 28 independence day with the ARF “Garmir Ler” Committee members.
They sang songs dedicated to the independence and handed a symbolic gift to the ARF "Garmir Ler" Committee.

By the invitation of "Haratch" Kindergarten, on Saturday 19th of May, Maggie and her band were invited to Anjar to entertain our children.

After the opening words made by Ms. Haverj Shekherdemian, the stage was given to Maggie, who performed wonderful children songs & dances with the participation of her band and made our children spend joyful and unforgettable moments.

Although we are late but we are happy to announce the birth of the first child of Mr. & Mrs. Yerchan and Nanor Kasarjian, a baby boy, Vahak, who was born on 22nd of April. Congratulations...

On Saturday, 19th of May, grand grandson of TRO (Trasdamad Ganyan), Mr. Aram Sharabkhanian, who has been visiting  Lebanon for one week visited Anjar.

He was welcomed by the members of ARF "Garmir Ler" Committee and its Organizational Council in the "S.Zetlian" Center, then visited "K.Guilbenkian" Sec. School and met with its principal, Mr. Armen Tashjian after which he headed towards  Mousaler Martyrs Monument and returned back to "S.Zetlian" Center, where he was welcomed by the AYF "Haratch" juniors.

After his visits he headed towards restaurant "Naba Anjar", where he was the launch guest of ARF "Garmir Ler" Committee.

On Friday, 18th of May, Bishop Kevork Yeghyayan in the presence of more than ten clerics from the Zemmar Monastery, headed a Mass ceremony dedicated to "St. Mary" in the presence of a large number of believers, in the Armenian Catholic church of Anjar.

After the Mass they were the dinner guests of the Women's association of the church.

A feast for celebrating the Ascension Day, was organized by LOKH "Aghtamar" Chapter,  on Thursday  23rd of May in restaurant "AlJazira".

After the Lebanese, Armenian and HOM anthems, Mrs. Hasmig Kesablian made the opening words, on behalf of the social council of the chapter, then invited the chairman of the Chapter, Mrs. Madlen Khoshian, who congratulated the Mothers and advised them to strengthen their effort for preparing a healthy and wise generation. Then she expressed the deep gratitude of the chapter for all those who have helped LOKH "Aghtamar" Chapter.

The conductor of the feast, Mrs. Lena Stamboulian conveyed the message of the ascension of Jesus Christ and during the feast the attendants played games, told jokes, ate delicious food, danced, and enjoyed the great voice of the well known Lebanese Armenian singer Mr. G. Geokgeozian.

By the organization of Lebanese Kung Fu & Wushu Federation, the final contest of the competition took place in Anjar, on Sunday 13th of May in the "K.Guilbenkian" hall.

                                     
During the contest members from the Lebanese Kung Fu & Wushu Federation, guests from six different Lebanese clubs and parents were present.

At the end the medals were distributed and Anjar Black Belt Amity got 16 medals this time, occupying the third position. Here are their results.

Like every year in May, this year too “Haratch” Kindergarten celebrated the Mothers Day, on Saturday May 12 at 5:00 pm in “K. Guilbenkian” Hall. On the entrance mothers were welcomed with beautiful flowers.

                                       
The event started by the opening words made by the director of the kindergarten Miss Verkineh Aintablian, who, on behalf of the school congratulated mothers on their special day. The graduating class participated in the event by singing, dancing and reciting poems in Armenian, English, and Arabic.

                                       
Then Nare Havatian played a wonderful piece on piano and Vart Manjian gratefully recited a poem. Miss Aintablian then invited the speaker of the day, Mrs. Sosse Jinbashian, who talked about the role of Armenian mothers in their families, she said that a father is the head of a family but a mother is the heart, she continued saying that mothers give without expecting anything in return.

And like every year when the time came for honoring an ideal mother in our society, Mrs. Zaroug Tashjian, the youngest grandmother in the event, was honored. 

Mrs. Jinbashian was then invited to cut the cake ending the first part of the event in high spirits.

The second part of the event was continued in "Haratch" kindergarten where the opening ceremony of an exhibition, took place. The exhibition was about the activities, drawings and the handicrafts of the students.

By the organization of the education council of LOKH "Aghtamar" chapter, a lecture about the Armenian architecture and monuments was held on Friday, 11th of May in "Mousa Ler" hall.

The opening words were made by Mrs. Ani Dukenjian, who after introducing the lecturer of the day, Mr. Movses Der Kevorkian, invited him on the stage.

For more than an hour, Mr. Der kevorkian, with PowerPoint presentation presented the situation of the Armenian monuments in Western Armenia in the 21st century.

On Thursday, 10th of May, by the invitation of ARF LEM "Shavarsh Misakian" Chapter, Mr. Arthur Mosiyan, a member of ARTSAKH ARF Central Committee, who has been visiting Lebanon for more than one week to participate in the events which were organized by the Zavarian Youth Association and LEM "Troshag" Chapter for the celebration of the 15th anniversary of the liberation of Shoushi, visited Anjar at 1:00pm.

After being welcomed by the members of ARF "Garmir Ler" Committee, LEM " Sh. Misakian" Chapter, the mayor of Anjar and the representatives of active organizations of Anjar, he visited "K.Guilbenkian" Sec. School and had a meeting with the administration and the students.

Later at night, by the organization of "Sh. Misakian Chapter, he had a meeting with our compatriots in the "Mousa Ler" hall. The opening words were made by Lousig Der Kalousidan, who after welcoming the guest in our village expressed the happiness of our people to welcome one of the leaders of Free and Independent Artsakh especially on the occasion of the 15th anniversary of the Liberation of Shoushi, invited him on stage.

Mr. Mosiyan briefly presented the current situation of ARTSAKH by telling that during the last years the economy made a great achievement specially after the encouragement and the investments of the foreign companies. He continued by speaking about the army, and considered it one of the qualified armed forces in the region.

He finished his speech by speaking about the educational institutions and encouraged our youth to continue their higher education in Artsakh.

At the end, the chairman of LEM "Shavarsh Misakian" Chapter, Sako Andekian handed a souvenir for him.

On Saturday, 5th of May, "Aghtamar" Choir of Damascus' "Levon Shant" Hamazkayin Chapter had a concert in "K.Guilbnekian" hall at 8:00pm.

The choir that consisted of 28 boys and girls and was conducted by Mrs. Armenouhi Simonian-Parseghian and had their pianist Ms. Rima Tanielian.

For more than two hours they sang 14 songs in three different languages (Armenian, Arabic & English) and fascinated their audience from their first performance on our stage.

We congratulate them and whish them further achievements.

Parents Committee of Arm. Evan. Kindergarten School, organized a feast to celebrate Mothers’ Day, on Friday 4th of May at 2.30pm in Restaurant "Arev".

                              
Mrs. Ani Kerkezian, on behalf of the Committee made the opening words and then invited Mrs. Kayane Mesrlian to presented the speaker of the day, Mrs. Yester Kilaghbian.  Mrs. Kilaghbian is the wife of the pastor of the Arm. Evan. Church of Achrafiyeh in Beirut, and the chief  the Bible Studies in the Arm. Evan. High School. For more than three hours our parents tasted the delicious food, danced on the rhythm of the Armenian music and spent wonderful time.    

On Friday, 4th of May, the organizational council of ARF " Garmir Ler" Committee visited the publishing house of "Aztag" daily newspaper and had a meeting with its executive director, Mr. Shahan Kandaharian.

During the meeting the council members congratulated the 80th anniversary of the newspaper and wished them further accomplishments.

May 1st workers’ day was celebrated in Anjar as usual, and the orchards of Anjar were the ideal place for visitors to relax and enjoy the beauty of our nature.
The restaurants of Anjar had a good portion of the day, when hundreds came and tasted the delicious food and spent wonderful time in our fascinating village.

By the organization of Hamazkayin "B.Sevag" Chapter, on Tuesday first of May, Marie Rose AbouSefyan was invited to Anjar, to present the Forty Days of Mousadagh of Frantz Verfelle.

The presentation was dedicated to her Grandmother Marisa Asdourian and to the 92nd anniversary of the Armenian Genocide.

For more than three hours she fascinated her audience by her presentation and at the end she was given a souvenir from the executive committee of the chapter.
