On Sunday, 25th of February Mr. Yerem Stamboulian (81 yrs.) passed away in his home after suffering from illness for a short period of time.

The funeral services took place on Monday, 26th of February at 2.30 pm. in the  "St.Paul" Church". Our deep condolences to his family and relatives.

After having a workshop day in Anjar on Sunday, 25th of February, the seniors of the "Gargach" choir of the Central Committee of Hamazkayin had their first performance in our village at 5:00 pm. in the "Mousaler" hall.

For more than one hour they sang different songs in Armenian, Arabic and French and astonished their audience.

With our deep sorrow we inform you the death of George Demirian (George Baboug 80yrs. ), who passed away on Thursday, February 22. The funeral services were held on the same day, at 3:00pm in the "St.Paul" Church.

Our deep condolences to his family and relatives.

Lokh "Aghtamar" Chapter has organized diamond setting courses for our compatriots having as a supervisor Mr. Hratch Boyadjian.

The course started two weeks ago and has more than 30 students of both sexes and different ages. We wish them success.

As it has turned into a tradition, this year too the seniors AYF "Haratch" chapter celebrated "Paregentan" on Sunday, 18th of February by visiting the houses, singing dancing and distributing handmade cards and wishing "Pari Pargendeg" (happy Halloween) to everyone.

On Thursday, 14th of February, the Executive Committee of the ARF "Garmir Ler" Committee organized a celebration to commemorate the “Vartanank” and February Uprising events, in "Aghajanian" hall, in the presence of the three pastors, the mayor Sebouh Sekayan, members of "Garmir Ler" Committee, representatives of different organizations and associations and a large number of compatriots.

                                  
After the Lebanese and Armenian anthems, the opening words were said by Mr. Hagop Aintablian on behalf of the Executive Committee. The commemoration event started by a PowerPoint presentation prepared by the students of "K.Guilbenkian' Sec. School, then followed by the speech of the first speaker of the day, who was Rev. Serop Mgerdichian from Syria. In his words he made a comparison  between the faith of today's youth and back in the days of the "Vartanank" uprising.

Then students of the Catholic school performed a theatrical scene gratefully reciting a poem. After which the second speaker Mr. Sako Aryan from Beirut was invited to convey the message of the February rebellion.  Mr. Aryan after talking about the strong faith of those who lost their life in these battles, talked about the ways of strengthening the communications between Diaspora and Armenia in order to have a prosperous motherland. Before ending the event with a prayer by the three pastors, students of the Arm. Evang. School performed a beautiful national dance.

On Tuesday 13th of February, after the Holy Mass held for the "Diarentarach" Holyday, and despite of the rainy and windy weather, the people gathered in the yard of the "St. Boghos" Church to light the holy fire of “Diarentarach”.

Mr. & Mrs. Zakar and Kamilia Keshishian launched their newly released CD, Nrneni, (pomegranate tree) on Wednesday, 7th of February at 8:00 pm in "K. & H. Armenian" hall,"Levon Shant" Cultural Center, Bourj Hammoud Center, Beirut.

The CD includes eleven pieces played with shevi, an Armenian traditional flute, and piano.

We congratulate them and wish them further achievements in their career.

Last night, on  Monday 5th of February, unidentified people had distributed a flier in one of the streets (adjoining the football field). The very short flier very clearly threatens the Armenian people of Ainjar with dire consequences, unless they, the Armenians restore the "territorial rights" of Moslem Awkaf. It demands us to leave the area, if we don't comply with this demand.
The authorities, civil and church have taken the necessary precautions. The Lebanese authorities, at the highest level both civil and military, have been alerted. The authorities in the neighboring town of Mejdel Ainjar including the mayor and the muftiin their turn, have strongly condemned this provocative action.

A announcement condemning this action has already been sent to all inlets of the Lebanese media (written and audiovisual).

Hamazkayin "B.Sevag" Chapter organized a commemorating event for the soul of  Hrant Dink, on Sunday, 4th of February .  After a special Mass ceremony and replacement of flowers in front of the Mousadaghian Martyrs Monument, the people headed towards "K.Guilbenkian" hall, where the event took place.

At the beginning the audience were able to watch a documentary film about Hrant dink, then one of his childhood closest friends, Mr. Minas Tejirian, residents of Anjar, talked about his old memories with Mr. Dink and his latest meeting with him during  last summer.

Then Mrs. Armig Der Ghougasian gratefully recited a poet from Bedros Hergelian, after which Mr. Zakar Keshishian had a performance on his flute and Ms. Laury Aintebian on the piano. Then the speaker of the day, Mr. Raffi Demirjian was invited to convey the message of the day. Mr. Demirjian in his speech spoke about the criminal policy of Turkey that has almost began one hundred years ago and still continuing. He ended his speech by saying: "One and half million times respect to Mr. Hrant Dink...and One and half million times "No" for the Turkish unfair policy.

The Evangelical School’s Alumni association organized a ball on third of February on the occasion of St. Valentine’s Day, in the restaurant "Arev".

The ball was conducted by Ms. Arine Chaparian, who created a nice atmosphere beside with two singers Ararad Aharonian  and the Lebanese singer  Sami Alayoubi, who also created a joyful atmosphere on their own special way.

The Ball served its purpose, which was to collect donations for the Armenian Evangelical Sec. School.

On Friday, second of February our compatriots were invited to a lecture about the Blood pressure in the "Filhannesian" Center in LOKH.

The lecture was organized by the "Educational" committee of the chapter having a lecturer Ms. Vicky Chakhchakhian. Ms. Chakhchakhian for almost two hours and with PowerPoint presentation spoke about the main factors causing hypertension (high blood pressure), how can we prevent it and what cures are present till today.
